WHEY PROTEIN POWDER
Currently the undisputed king of proteins. Here is why: whey proteins are quickly digested (hence their "fast-acting" reputation). They are loaded with Essential Amino Acids (EAAs) - including three Branch Chained Amino Acids (BCAAs), and also contain sub-components (microfractions) that appear to provide additional benefits. Whey is one of two major dairy proteins and accounts for about 20% of the protein in milk. Whey proteins are available in three common forms: Concentrates (lower protein level, more economical), Isolates (higher protein level, more expensive) and Hydrolates (partially broken down for faster digestion and absorption). In the last couple of years a fourth form has arisen called Nano Technology (100% Hydrolysed Peptide Isolated Whey Protein), superior to other Hydrolyzed and Whey Protein Isolates, because this process extracts all the growth, immune and 'bio-active' peptide factors found in whey protein.
Concentrates have much of the water, carbohydrates, lactose, minerals, and fat removed so the protein content is much more concentrated than it was before processing. Protein concentrates range from 34% - 85% protein.
Isolates are further stripped of non-protein materials toi yield purity levels of 90% or higher. Because of the extra steps, energy, and processing losses, protein isolates are more expensive that protein concentrates.
Hydrolyzed proteins or protein hydrolysates are proteins that have been partially broken down (also called pre-digested) into smaller pieces, so they get into your system quicker. Hydrolates are generally more expensive than isolates and concentrates because extra processing steps are required.
Nano-ised proteins are even smaller that hydrolyzed to the point that all impurities are extracted and can truly be lactose free and gluten free. The particles are so small that they can be absorbed through the skin. An even more expensive process than hydrolyzed proteins, but the purest form available - today.
